DOVES

SHELTER SERVICES

DOVES operates an 18 bed, long term shelter for battered women and their children. Our shelter is a 3 to 6 month rehabilitation program designed to give victims an opportunity to stop the cycle of violence through group work on the dynamics of abusive relationships, anger management, family systems therapy, AA and NA and other therapeutic issues. Educational classes include job search skills, money management, health issues, parenting skills and nutritional education. Shelter clients also receive help with Restraining Orders, custody issues, and other legal papers. When a client is ready to leave the shelter, she is helped with obtaining a job and housing. Fully 73% of clients who have completed the program leave the shelter employed, independent and living violence free lives.
